The Cross, The Savior The Flag, The Soldier

Many years ago, I put a cross in our field with the help of Barrett Mills

It was up on a hill in the middle of a field where we had harvested sand for an extension on a farm building.

A few years ago, the guys mining our sand pit removed it and broke it in the process. Then a wonderful total stranger Ron Christman came along and built me a beautiful new one.

Through the years I place material on the cross the week before Easter taking it down on Saturday evening and replacing it with a victorious royal colored cloth to celebrate the risen Savior.

I also hang a flag on the cross on Memorial Day, Flag Day, 4th of July, Veterans Day and sometimes on Voting Days.

For me there is a huge connection.

The cross represents the death of Jesus and his power to purchase our redemption for sins and gives us the gift of eternal life. Freedom from sin. No tethers to hold us and a direct road to heaven. No one else has or can do this for us. I want the cross in view to remind or even peak someone’s interest into finding out more about this Jesus.

The flag represents, to me, the multitude of souls who fought for our country. They purchased our freedom, and some died paying the ultimate price. No other person has laid their life down for me and I can’t begin to be grateful enough to them or their families. The flag is hung to remind those driving by of the privileges we take so for granted. And we are living in a day where we need to fight to keep those rights that the blood of many has been spilt to bless us.

Two freedoms paid by the blood of another.

I pray you connect with the Savior on a personal level.

I also pray you connect with service men, women and veterans and thank them.
